Today has been socially busy and I'm now mentally exhausted. After suffering insomnia yet another night, I could benefit from going to sleep early. But here I am... committed to a blog post a day for the month of November for 'NaBloPoMo' (write a blog post a day for the month of November). Although I hate to bore you...
My phone interview with the EDD (unemployment office) was scheduled for today and it was pretty in depth questioning. Luckily I had my notes and documentation laid out, but still difficult at times to articulate and choose my words carefully. They'll make a decision by the end of the week whether or not my claim is approved. I'm crossing my fingers. They need to contact my former employer to get their statement vs. mine.
After picking up son from school, we met a former colleague of mine for lunch and I got more of the work scoop. I tried to be diplomatic and not too bitter about the situation. He told me that my boss didn't expect the HR company to take it to that extreme and that I would leave. Apparently she fully expected me to accept the stringent performance improvement plan and stay on board. Well, guess she was wrong.
My final social outing of the day was a happy hour with an acquaintance to discuss business opportunities. She picked my brain about my aspirations, goals, what I excel at, what I want to be 'when I grow up', etc. I felt it was a painful experience. I don't know her that well and I'm feeling particularly depleted and uninspired. I honestly don't know what the future holds for me professionally. I'm just trying to get through each day taking care of the kids and the basics. (And now NaBLoPoMo.) My goal continues to be adding more recreation/leisure to my life. Can I get paid for that?
Aside from the social interactions I had today, the other wonderful things about today was the relaxing two mile walk around the park this morning; the cool, wet, fall weather and the gorgeous sunset in Laguna Beach this evening. It's actually raining in Southern California!
Tomorrow I hope to delve more into reading others' NaBloPoMo blog posts, work out at the gym and clean/organize the disaster which is our home office.
